4. USL-1: Vancouver and Charleston advance to semifinals

The Vancouver Whitecaps and Charleston Battery moved into the semifinals of the USL First Division's playoffs with victories in the first round of the playoffs.

Vancouver knocked off expansion Miami FC, 6-1, on aggregate. Brazilian great Romario scored Miami's only goal. Former MLS player Stephen Armstrong's second-half goal gave Charleston a 1-0 win at Puerto Rico Sunday night and the series victory, 3-2, on aggregate.

Vancouver will face top seed Montreal in an all-Canadian semifinal. The Battery will meet Rochester in the other semifinal series next weekend.
