With Manchester City, the English Premier League club that includes Americans Claudio Reyna and DaMarcus Beasley, in the midst of a dire slump, its coach somewhat reluctantly accepted a good luck charm from his daughter.

"Before the match my daughter said: 'Beenie the Horse wants to sit next to you by the drinks holder on the touchline,'" Man City boss Stuart Pearce said of the stuffed animal toy he indeed brought to the field. "Beanie was her idea of a lucky charm for me. It is difficult to tell a 7-year-old: 'This is the Premiership, I'm known as Psycho and I'm a hard man.'"

Man City won the game 2-0 over West Ham for its third win in 16 games.
