U.S. Soccer: Beasley, Convey head U-23 roster

Coach Glenn Myernick has named an 18-man roster for the U.S. U-23 team's Feb. 1-14 Europe tour. The team, which will try to qualify for the 2004 Olympic tournament (a U-23 competition), currently comprises of players under age 21. The squad named by Myernick, which will play at the Madeira International Tournament in Portugal and in a friendly in Italy, is led by six players with MLS experience: DaMarcus Beasley (Chicago Fire), Bobby Convey (D.C. United), Kyle Beckerman (Colorado), D.J. Countess (MetroStars), Devin Barclay (San Jose) and defender Jose Burciaga (Kansas City). It also includes three Project-40 signees who will enter the 2002 MLS SuperDraft: Brad Davis (Saint Louis University), Kelly Gray (Portland) and Kyle Martino (Virginia).
