U.S. Women: Three to miss Texas ôGlory Gameö

Coach April Heinrichs has announced her roster for the U.S. womenÆs second of three ôGlory Tourö games. Missing from the roster for the Dec. 10 match against Mexico at Robertson Stadium in Houston are three players from the 2000 Olympic roster: goalkeeper Briana Scurry (family commitments), defender Danielle Slaton (soon to undergo minor knee surgery) and defender Joy Fawcett (pregnant with her third child, due sometime next June) Fawcett plans to continue playing internationally as well as for her WUSA club, the San Diego Spirit, perhaps joining the team in time for the end of the inaugural season. U.S. coach April Heinrichs will likely add a goalkeeper and a defender to her roster prior to the match. In the first game of its ôGlory Tour,ö the U.S. women fell to Canada, 3-1, in Columbus, Ohio., Nov. 11. It concludes Dec. 17 in Phoenix against Japan.
