MLS: D.C. United to tour El Salvador
September 28th, 2000 12AM

D.C. United will embark on a one-week offseason tour to El Salvador in early November, where it will play three exhibition matches against Salvadoran First Division clubs. United will play two games Nov. 1 and 3 in a four-team tournament in the eastern city of San Miguel, hometown of United striker Raul Diaz Arce, and will play a third match in the capital city of San Salvador versus local club Alianza Nov. 5. According to local tournament organizers, proceeds from ticket sales involving all of United's matches will be used to rebuild Estadio Municipal Juan Francisco Barraza of San Miguel. Along with United, scheduled to participate in the four-team tournament in San Miguel are current El Salvador "Liga Mayor" champion Luis Angel Firpo of Usulutan, Aguila and Dragon, both of whom are based in San Miguel.
