Bulgaria didn't qualify for the 2006 World Cup, but interest is still
high in the former Eastern bloc country.
Two
prisoners seving life sentences at the Pazardzhik prison went on a
hunger strike to try to get televisions placed in their cells. They
sealed their mouths to show the seriousness of thei effort.
Said Prison director Vesselin
Kotzev, "I am negotiating with them to convince them that
sealing their mouths
is not the way to put forward their demands, which are unrealistic."
The earnestness of the lifers had to be questioned, however. They left
gaps in their mouths so they could smoke.
