Curbishley Appointed West Ham Manager

West Ham United officially named Alan Curbishley as the club's manager on Wednesday. After Alan Pardew was sacked on Monday, Curbishley, a former West Ham player in the late '70s, immediately became the favorite to replace to him. Curbishley was manager of Charlton Athletic for an amazing 15 years before deciding to step down at the end of last season to take what he says was a much-needed break from soccer. Of Curbishley, Eggert Magnusson, the club's new owner, said: "He did a fantastic job at Charlton, and I know how highly regarded he is throughout the football world." The former West Ham player also grew up near Upton Park, the club's grounds, where this weekend he will make his managerial debut for the club against Manchester United. Curbishley has now become just the 11th manager in West Ham's 104-year history. Read the original story...
