Internacional of Brazil stunned Barcelona, 1-0, to win the Club World
Cup before 67,128 fans in Yokohama on Sunday.
Barca, the European champion, had the big edge in play, but substitute Adriano scored on a breakaway in
the 82nd minute to give Internacional, the Copa Libertadores champion,
the victory.
Barca was the heavy favorite after blasting Mexico's Club America, 4-0, in the semifinals, but a Brazilian club was crowned world champion for the second year in a row. Last year, Sao Paulo beat Liverpool, 1-0, in the final. In this year's third-place game, Egypt's Al Ahly beat Club America, 2-1. South Korea's Chonbuk Motors downed Auckland City of New Zealand, 3-0, for
fifth place.
