FRIENDLIES: Former MLS players strike for Mexico & Bolivia
March 29th, 2007 10:52AM

Mexico beat Ecuador, 4-2, in Oakland, Calif., in front of 47,416 fans in game that was sold two weeks ago.

Francisco Palencia, who spent last season with Chivas USA and is now with UNAM Pumas, opened the scoring 29 seconds into the game.

Ecuador took a 2-1 lead on goals by Carlos Tenorio and Giovanni Espinoza by halftime, but goals by Rafael Marquez, Omar Bravo and Adolfo Bautista earned El Tri the win.

Bolivia celebrated its first away win in three years with a 1-0 victory at South Africa on a goal by 24-year-old Joselito Vaca, who played for Dallas (2001-03) and the MetroStars (2004).

Germany, resting its regulars after last weekend's 2-1 Euro 2008 qualifying win over the Czech Republic, suffered its first port-World Cup 2006 loss with a 1-0 defeat to Denmark.

This summer's Copa America host Venezuela celebrated a 5-0 win over New Zealand, which lost, 4-0, to Costa Rica last weekend.
