Mike Campbell's goal in the second minute of overtime gave Ohio Wesleyan a 2-1 win over Greensboro and the school's first soccer championship. Campbell took a pass from midfielder Jason Chadima and danced along the top of the box before drilling a right-footed shot into the upper right corner of the goal. "My first thought when Mike hit that was 'Oh, no!', because Campbell is left-footed and he hit it with his right foot," said Ohio Wesleyan coach Jay Martin. "It was one of those where you say 'No, Mike, no -- great shot!'" The Battling Bishop defense was superb in the extra session, allowing Greensboro just two shots overall and none on goal. Ohio Wesleyan took the early lead in the 12th minute. Chadima corralled a loose ball after the Greensboro defense broke up a corner kick and crossed for Jon Van Horn, whose header found the left side of the net. Greensboro equalized with nine minutes to play when Carlton Mack beat the Bishop defense to a long punt by keeper Steve Larsen and tipped the ball into the goal. Ohio Wesleyan downed Williams 1-0 in the semifinals on Martin Forman's rebound goal in the tenth minute. Greensboro edged Rowan by the same score, with the winning tally coming on Ryan Nelsen's header off of a long free kick by Richard Ronemus early in the second half.
