Three MLS games into BMO Field's much-lauded existence, and Toronto FC owner Maple Leaf Sports Entertainment already had to make emergency repairs. Before TFC's 2-1 loss at home to D.C. United, several bolts and fasteners snapped, though MLSE removed the debris and Saturday's match ended up going off without a hitch. It was the club's fourth consecutive sellout at home.

TFC's fans have already gained a reputation for being a loud, active bunch. The falling debris was said to be caused by relentless stomping on the all-metal floors. "We have found a total of six objects which fans have turned in to stadium staff," MLSE executive vice president of operations Bob Hunter said. "It is a big concern for us and the grandstand builder was very quick to jump on the problems and we are assuming that the problem has now been rectified and there won't be a reoccurrence." There have been no more reports of falling debris since Hunter's statements on Friday. He said the objects may also have been leftover construction materials shaken loose by the vibrations. Meanwhile, TV commentators have often remarked how the whole stadium shakes when fans in the upper deck of the stadium jump up and down.

Two witnesses told The Globe and Mail last week they saw 4-6 centimeter large metal bolts fall from the grandstand on to the concourse below during games at the stadium. Calls by the Globe and Mail made to the builder and city building inspectors were not returned. Let's hope the problem is fixed, though, because the beautiful BMO Field has already become one of the league's iconic stadiums in its short existence.
