The surprise of the Gold Cup has been Guadeloupe, the French department making its debut in the CONCACAF championship. The "Gwadaboys" have already beaten Canada and Honduras and meet Mexico Thursday in the quarterfinals. Here's a look at some of its stars ...

JOCELYN ANGLOMA. Guadeloupe's inspirational leader is its "Papy," the former French international who at 41 is playing in his last international competition. After a long career in France (Rennes, Lille, Paris St. Germain and Marseille), Italy (Torino and Inter Milan) and Spain (Valencia), he quit professional soccer in 2002 to move to Guadeloupe, where he continued to play for l'Etoile de Morne-a-l'Eau and work in youth development. Angloma scored only one goal in 37 appearances for France, but he has scored goals against Canada -- a lob from 35 yards over keeper Greg Sutton -- and Honduras at the Gold Cup.

DAVID SOMMEIL. At 32, Sommeil is another veteran of European soccer. He played this past season for Sheffield United in the EPL after two and a half seasons at Manchester City. Sommeil is the leader of the Gwadaboy's backline. "We love to play for France," he told reporters after the team's workout Wednesday. "But we are Guadeloupeans first, and it's a very great honor to play for Guadeloupe."

FRANCK GRANDEL. The 28-year-old keeper had several big saves in the win over Honduras on Sunday. He plays for Dutch club Utrecht after bouncing around small clubs in France and Greece for several years.

AURILIEN CAPOUE. The 25-year-old midfielder has a history of discipline problems, but he has been outstanding for Guadeloupe at the Gold Cup. He played 48 games the last three years for recently relegated First Division club Nantes,

RICHARD SOCRIER. Socrier, 28, has played at five different clubs in France the last five years, mostly recently Second Division Brest, for which he scored 11 goals in the 2006-07 season. He set up Angloma for the first goal against Honduras and scored the eventual game-winner himself.
