Chivas' Leon Silent on Veron Speculation

Various reports have linked Argentine wizard Juan Sebastian Veron with Chivas USA of MLS, but Chivas GM Javier Leon would neither confirm nor deny the speculation. Keegan Pierce, the club's director of Communications on Tuesday said the team had never spoke to Veron about joining the club.

"If those Argentine Web sites reported that Veron was the guy we were talking to, then I would say they are incorrect," Pierce said. "What I can say is that Chivas USA is looking for a player to be part of the team like it always is looking for possible players to join our club." Various Argentine reports on Tuesday said that signing Veron would cost $20 million. Infobae.com said the both parties were near an agreement and that Veron would live in Hollywood. It also said the Argentina midfielder would arrive in the States next Tuesday and that officials had been trying to convince Veron to come to MLS for months.

Leon would not comment on the speculation, saying only that Chivas was was "evaluating and looking into its opportunities" of adding another player to its roster.
