Califf scores for Aalborg in Intertoto Cup victory

American Dan Califf scored in Danish club AaB Aalborg's 2-1 win over Ghent that gave it a 3-2 victory over the Belgian club in the third round of the Intertoto Cup.

In other Intertoto Cup action, Brad Friedel earned a shutout in Blackburn Rovers' 4-0 win over Vetra Vilnius of Lithuania that completed a series sweep.

Charlie Davies came on in the second half of Swedish club Hammarby's 1-1 tie at Dutch club Utrecht that moved it into the fourth round on the away goal.

In other summer European action, first-year American forward Ryan Guy started for St. Patrick's of Ireland in its 0-0 tie with Odense of Denmark. The second leg of their UEFA Cup first qualifying round takes place on Thursday.
