U.S. product Edgar Castillo debuts for Mexico

Mexico, fielding a team filled with candidates for its U-23 team preparing for Olympic qualifying, fell 1-0 to Colombia in Commerce City, Colo., on a goal 53rd minute goal by Jaime Castrillón in front of 17,737 fans. U.S. product Edgar Castillo entered the game in the 65th minute.

Castillo, who was born and raised in Las Cruces, N.M., signed with Mexican First Division club Santos Laguna in 2005 after a successful tryout and debuted with the first team in 2006. The left-sided player won a starting role with Santos in January of 2007.

Mexico coach Hugo Sanchez fielded several players from the squad that won the U-17 World Cup in 2005 and from Mexico's 2007 U-20 World Cup team.
