[WEDNESDAY ACTION] No. 11 Penn State shut out Colgate, 5-0, in the Nittany Lions' final tuneup before beginning Big Ten women's action against No. 21 Illinois on Sunday at Jeffrey Field (TV: Big Ten Network, live, 3 pm ET).

Two Katie Schoepfer goals less than three minutes apart put the game away early in the second half. Ashley Myers and Aubrey Aden-Buie had scored to give the Lions a 2-0 halftime lead. Freshman Danielle Toney’s goal closed out the scoring with under two minutes left.

“This was a professional performance for us tonight,” said first-year PSU coach Erica Walsh. “There are always a lot of excuses with a mid-week game, but the group came out and took care of business. I am proud of the effort we put in tonight, and now we are ready for Illinois.”
