[AMERICANS IN EUROPE] Steve Cherundolo and Hannover 96 played a scoreless tie at Eintracht Frankfurt to remain in sixth place. In the Second Division, Californian Steve Purdy, a regular on its reserve team, made his first appearance on the bench for 1860 Munich's first team and stayed there as Gregg Berhalter (90 minutes) and Josh Wolff (45) helped it to a 3-0 win against Kickers Offenbach that keeps 1860 in the promotion zone. Standard Liege remains in first place of the Belgian league after a 2-2 tie with Mechelen in which Standard's Oguchi Onyewu went the full 90 as usual.

Neven Subotic made his 11th straight start for German Second Division Mainz in a 1-1 tie with Augsburg.

In the Netherlands, Michael Bradley played the first 65 minutes of a 4-0 win over VVV Venlo.
