[AMERICANS ABROAD] Freddy Adu, three days after scoring his first league goal for Benfica, scored in his third straight cup game, but his team fell, 2-1, to Setubal and was eliminated with a 3-2 aggregate result. Adu, making his first start since joining Benfica this summer, struck from the penalty spot in the 45th minute. He was subbed with five minutes left. Benfica's official Web site praised the 18-year-old's overall performance.

"Adu made the most of the opportunity [Coach Jose Antonio] Camacho gave him," according to Benfica's official Web site's game report. "He was constantly a factor in the Benfica attack. Despite playing wide, he ventured into the center of the field. The 18-year-old demonstrated that he has a promising future."
