[WCC] Santa Clara clinched its 10th WCC title with a week to spare thanks to a 4-1 win over St. Mary's on Sunday.

Captain Peter Lowry scored the first goal and helped set up two others to lead the Broncos, who repeated as WCC champions and clinched a berth in the NCAA Tournament.

Stephen McCarthy, Ricky Character and David Castellanos all scored goals to stretch the Broncos' unbeaten streak to 15 games. SCU is now 13-1-4 and 8-0-2 in conference play.

The last two seasons the Broncos have lost on Senior Day, so they were happy to clinch the WCC race at home.

"We are happy to win the title at home in front of our fans," said captain Jamil Roberts. "We didn't want to have to go up to Gonzaga and Portland [next week] needing a win. The team played hard tonight and we got a great win."
