Brazil claimed its second consecutive Beach World Cup on Sunday in Rio de Janeiro, with an 8-2 win over Mexico 8-2 in the final. Uruguay finished third by edging France 1-0 on penalties after a 2-2 draw in regulation.

It was Brazil's 11th world title in beach soccer since the event began in 1995. In the final, the Brazilians got goals by Andre (2), Bruno (2). Benjamin, Betinho, Junior Negao and Buru also scored goals.

Buru, scorer of 10 tournament goals, won the Golden Ball as the tournament's star player, and the Golden Shoe as the top scorer. He finished the tournament with 10 goals.
