[AMERICANS IN GERMANY] Hannover 96, with right back Steve Cherundolo making his 16th appearance of the season, fell one spot to seventh place with a 5-1 loss to second-to-last place Energie Cottbus. In the Second Division, 1860 Munich revived its promotion hopes with a 5-0 win over Erzgebirge Aue in which defender Gregg Berhalter scored from the penalty spot.

Josh Wolff played the final 18 minutes 1860 Munich, which is in fifth place, two points below the promotion zone.

Hansa Rostock notched an important victory in its effort to stave off relegation from the First Division, but Heath Pearce did not see action in the 2-0 win over VfL Bochum.

In the Second Division, 19-year-old Neven Subotic, a former U.S. U-17, played his 16th game for Mainz in a 1-0 loss at St. Pauli.

Berhalter has now scored 16 goals in 133 Second Division career games.
