[AMERICANS ABROAD] Goalkeeper Brad Friedel and Blackburn Rovers were ousted from the English League Cup at the quarterfinal stage with a 3-2 loss overtime to Arsenal. Playing a man down during overtime, Arsenal got a 104th minute winner when Eduardo beat Friedel with a low shot from 16 yards.

Eduardo had also scored Arsenal's second goal after Vassiriki Diaby's opener. Paraguyan Roque Santa Cruz scored both Blackburn goals.
