CU women's soccer coach Steve Barrett will take the reigns of the fledgling men's program.
"I am excited at the prospect of starting up a men's soccer program here at Concord," he said. "I plan on working hard to ensure that soccer will be played at a high level for many years to come. This is an exciting opportunity for the local soccer community and I am thrilled to be a part of it."
The Mountain Lions will now offer more varsity sports (18) than any other four-year college in the state. They compete in the (NCAA Division II) West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletics Conference, which includes long-time small-college powers West Virginia Wesleyan and Davis & Elkins.
