The Asian Football Federation is less than impressed with its teams' performance at this year's World Cupnone of them qualified for the second round and has said it will make a "very concerted effort" to help restructure and re-launch its leagues, improve match formats, and boost their overall technical and administrative professionalism, an AFC official tells the Associated Press. The AFC loudly proclaimed its disappointment at how Japan, South Korea, Iran and Saudi Arabia all failed to reach the second round. "Everyone was expecting our teams to do much better than they did." Mohamed bin Hammam, the AFC President, said earlier this week. "It is my belief that this defeat is because of poor competition structures, particularly club competitions, both at national and confederation level," he added.
