Soccer By Ives reveals that the New York Red Bulls-Barcelona friendly hinted at several weeks ago "is definitely happening." The Bulls will face Barca on Aug. 7 at Giant's Stadium, moving the NY club's league match against D.C. United on Aug. 9 to Aug. 10 to accommodate the friendly. New York's match against the New England Revolution the week before will now be moved to June 18.

The match appeared in doubt when the Red Bulls entered into discussions with Barca rival Real Madrid over the friendly, but the Bulls eventually reached an agreement. An official announcement is forthcoming, blogger Ives Galarcep said. "We are almost sure we will go to the States," Barca spokesman Jose Miguel Teres told the New York Times, adding that Chicago would likely be the second destination of the club's preseason tour. "It is 99 percent, unless something strange happens. We are now finishing the contracts."

The last time the club toured the United States, in the summer of 2006, Barca routed the Red Bulls, 4-1, at Giant's Stadium in front of 79,000 fans.
