Man City Agree to Jo Transfer

Sven Goran Eriksson is clearly planning to be back at the City of Manchester Stadium after orchestrating a $40 million agreement to bring 21-year-old Brazilian striker Jo to Manchester City next season. The CSKA Moscow striker, who was joint top scorer in Russia last season with 14 goals, has already made a bright start to the new campaign, scoring twice in his first five games. His record in Europe -- 10 goals in 12 matches -- has been even more impressive; few expected the youngster to remain in Russia beyond this season.

Last month, the lanky 6-foot-2 striker was linked to Arsenal, but the Guardian learned of the agreement to sell the player to Manchester City. Gaining the required work permit to play in England could prove to be a problem, however, as Jo has only played one time for the Brazilian national team. The UK Home Office usually requires that a player compete in 75 percent of his country's internationals in order to receive the permit. Brazil national team manager Dunga has reportedly told Jo that if the Home Office denies his application that would send a letter to assist with his appeal.
