Manchester United winger Cristiano Ronaldo on Monday was named the Professional Footballer's Association Player of the Year for the second consecutive season after another amazing campaign that has seen him score 28 goals in 29 league games for the Red Devils. Ronaldo beat the likes of Liverpool's Fernando Torres and Steven Gerrard and Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas and Emmanuel Adebayor to claim the prestigious award, which is voted on by the Premier League's players.

"I feel very happy," the 23-year-old said. "When you work all season to play good, to do something for the team, to do your contribution for the team and then at the end of the season the PFA give you this award, it is a great moment, it is an honor, a pleasure. It is a great motivation to carry on like that, to work more and get better."

Ronaldo joined United in 2003 following a $24.48 million move from Sporting Lisbon. "I am sure I am a better player than four or five years ago," he said. "It is my ambition to learn more and play better and I think I am in the right place." Ronaldo said his own vote had gone to Gunners striker Adebayor, who has scored 27 goals this season. He dedicated the award to his teammates. "Football is a collective game and you prefer to win trophies with teammates but it's always nice to have this type of award," he said. "I dedicate it to my teammates because without them I would not have won."
