[U.S. OPEN CUP] Real Salt Lake won its "play-in" against San Jose, 4-0, with a pair of goals by Kyle Beckerman and one apiece from Yura Movsisyan and Andy Williams. Salt Lake faces Columbus May 27 and the winner of that game faces the Chicago Fire for a spot in the third round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup.

Host Salt Lake took the lead in the 21st minute when Matias Mantilla, with a diving header, relayed a Williams corner kick to Beckerman, who tapped the ball home. Beckerman extended the lead with a 28-yard rocket.

Soon after, Movsisyan added a third after taking a pass from Matias Cordoba and splitting keeper Preston Burpo and defender James Riley.

Williams, assisted by Tino Nunez, scored his goal in the 90th minute.
