[LIBERTADORES CUP] Mexican club Atlas held defending Libertadores Cup champion Boca Juniors to a 2-2 tie in the first leg of their quarterfinal series on Wednesday.

Both Atlas goals came on headers -- Omar Flores scored after five minutes and Jorge Torres' late goal was the equalizer.

The game was played at Velez Sarsfield because of a ban on Boca's Bombonera Stadium following crowd trouble in the round of 16.

In Wednesday's other game, Brazil international Adriano on loan from Inter Milan, scored to give Sao Paulo a 1-0 win over Fluminense in an all-Brazil quarterfinal.
