[OFF THE POST] Austria's Euro '08 ended not with a first-round exit but with a stunnng victory -- at least that's the outcome of mock documentary by filmmaker David Schalko.

The Austrians defeated the Netherlands in the final of Schalko's film "'The Miracle of Vienna," which Austrian broadcaster ORF commissioned and screened on the eve of the tournament to a large television audience.

"The more I worked on the film, the more convinced I became that it would actually happen," said film maker David Schalko.

In the film, Austria defeated co-host Switzerland in the quarterfinals, upset Germany in the semifinals but lost to the Netherlands in the final.

Did Schalko jinx the Austrians?

"I don't think you can blame the film," he laughed. "It was always meant to be a satirical piece and I think it helped generate some excitement and a good atmosphere."
