[SOUTH AMERICA] LDU Quito moved a step closer to becoming the first Ecuadorian club to win the Copa Libertadores when it downed Brazil's Fluminense, 4-2, in first leg final on Wednesday.

Hosting the Brazilians at 9,000 feet above sea level, LDU Quito took the lead two minutes after kickoff through Claudio Bieler.

Fluminense equalized in 11th minute with a free kick by Dario Conca.

But goals by Joffre Guerron, Jairo Campos and Patricio Urrutia gave a 4-1 lead by halftime.

Fluminense looked much better in the second half and made it 4-2 with a goal by Thiago Neves.

The two Copa Libertadores final debutants teams meet in the second leg in Rio de Janeiro on July 2.
