A fan vote on the worst ever Premier League team has revealed a surprising number of Manchester United players in the losers' lineup. Less surprisingly, former L.A. Galaxy defender Abel Xavier also made the cut.

In goal for 'Relegation United' is United's former shot-stopper Massimo Taibi, who polled a third of the vote. The defence would be Wigan's Titus Bramble (top overall with 38 per cent), Jean-Alain Boumsong (22), Darren Peacock (18) and Xavier (21).

The midfield is made up of United duo Eric Djemba-Djemba (26 per cent) and Luke Chadwick (21), alongside Carlton Palmer (20). Up front would be Lee Dong-Gook (20 per cent), Thomas Brolin (19) and United's former forward Diego Forlan (17), who scored 10 goals in 63 games for United, but who has been on sparkling form for Villareal and Atletico Madrid in La Liga ever since.
