Euro '08 champion Spain won its first match under Vicente Del Bosque, beating Denmark, 3-0, on the road on Wednesday. Marcello Lippi, who coached Italy to the 2006 World Cup title, was back at the helm of the Azzurri for the first time since his return as national team coach, but Italy needed two goals to come back and tie Austria, 2-2. Carlos Queiroz began his second spell as Portugal coach with a 5-0 win over the Faeroe Islands. David Beckham had an assist off a corner kick for England's first goal in its 2-2 tie with the Czech Republic. The English needed a stoppage-time goal from Joe Cole to salvage the tie.
