Last year: Led by Hermann Trophy winner Mami Yamaguchi, Florida State reached the NCAA Tournament championship game for the first time.
This year: Yamaguchi gave up the final year of her eligibility to sign with Swedish club Umea, but Florida State returns eight other starters from last year's squad.
Finnish international Sanna Talonen won 2007 Soccer America Freshman of the Year honors after a sensational tournament run.
Also back are sophomore midfielders Amanda DaCosta and Marissa Kazbour and junior defender Becky Edwards. Coach Mark Krikorian has brought in the deepest freshman class in the country.
