Johnson makes Cardiff debut

[AMERICANS ABROAD] Eddie Johnson debuted for Cardiff City in its 2-1 win over MK Dons in the English League Cup.

It was a largely unimpressive outing for Johnson, who joined City on loan from Fulham, though he did have a header off Joe Ledley's cross that Dons keeper Willy Gueret pushed on to the cross bar.

Cardiff, unbeaten in the League Championship (second level) with one win and two ties in three games, won on goals by Ross McCormack -- his second penalty in three days -- and Peter Whittingham -- on a free kick.

Cardiff manager Dave Jones is optimistic that Johnson will come through.

"We have players here who need time to bed in," he said afterwards, "and Eddie Johnson is one of those, but we will soon see the best of him."
