The New York Red Bulls' U-17s scored one of the biggest wins an MLS youth team has ever recorded when it beat Inter Milan's Serie A U-17 championship team, 3-1, on on Saturday night in Newark, N.J.

Giorgi Chirgadze, whose 13 assists led the Red Bull U-17/18 academy team during the 2007-08 Development Academy season, turned goalscorer, striking twice in the second half to break a 1-1 tie.

Dylan Mencia, an all-conference U-15/16 Development Academy pick, had leveled the score for New York late in the first half.

"It was definitely a great night to play," said Red Bulls U-17 coach Paul O'Donnell. "The boys were very excited playing a top level team and every one of their players could play, but I think tonight we showed on any given day we have quality as well. The boys came to play and they were outstanding tonight."

The PDL South Jersey Barons' U-17 team tied Inter Milan, 1-1 two days earlier thanks to a goal by former U.S. U-17 Ryan Finley.
