[AFRICA] A stadium riot in Congo that caused 13 deaths reportedly started when players retaliated to a goalkeeper's use of witchcraft. During game between Nyuki System and rival Socozaki, Nyuki's goalkeeper ran up the field chanting spells in hopes of reversing Socozaki's lead, according to Radio Olapi.

The United Nations-funded radio station reported that the most the dead were of the ages 11 to 16 and that they suffocated trying to escape from the stadium after police fired tear gas into the stands.

Players began fighting after the keeper's fetishist chants and spectators threw rocks at police attempting to break up the fighting.

One policeman was hit in the head and the police responded with tear gas, which prompted a lethal rush to the exits.
