Seeking churchgoers at soccer games

[OFF THE POST] A church in England is marketing to soccer fans in hopes of boosting Sunday morning attendance. "Because Jesus has already taken the penalty, you can be saved!" is one of the campaign's ad slogans appearing in game programs.

The "Back to Church Sunday" effort by the Lichfield Diocese was concocted by its director of communications, Gavin Drake, who is the P.A. man for Walsall FC.

"If football fans respond to these adverts and come back to church, you can guarantee that they'll never walk alone," he said.
