Austin stayed in his locker room for an hour following the eighth-tier game between Worthing and Chipstead in Ryman League Division One (South), played in front of 174 fans. He also showed eight yellow cards, leaving Worthing's assistant manager Danny Bloor incredulous.
"Technically their first player had to go for a deliberate handball but how the referee sent off the others I don't know," said Bloor, who claimed "there wasn't a dirty tackle in the game. Further down the line we will lose three players to suspension because unless you have video evidence you cannot appeal."
The game ended 8 vs 8 players and tied at one goal each.
