"There's just so much to be said," said De Rosario. "The players really have no say. And that's the unfortunate thing. I should say that we have a say, but our voices haven't been heard. And that's a sad thing. They are more concerned about trying to make money off the games we play instead of trying to put it in the best situation possible so that we'll qualify for the World Cup."
Part of the problem has been that the players are not used to playing on turf, yet the CSA has insisted on hosting games in Toronto. "We would love to play in Toronto if it was grass, but 99 percent of our players don't play on [artificial] turf, and they have no experience playing on turf," De Rosario said. "We want to play in an environment that is comfortable, and right now Montreal is that venue. Unfortunately we're playing at three different locations. And it's definitely difficult. The players want to play in one place, amongst other things."
Canada is currently third in its four-team Concacaf World Cup qualifying group, five points adrift of second-place Honduras with just one point from three games. It needs to finish second to move forward to the final qualifying round for South Africa 2010. De Rosario will miss the October 11 must-win game in Honduras due to a yellow-card suspension.
