Houston has added sophomore transfer Christine Nieva from Arizona State.

Nieva, who has played in midfield an as a forward, is a native of Dallas and represented Mexico at the 2006 Under-20 Women's World Cup. She also has played for Mexico at the senior level, debuting against the USA in the farewell game for Mia Hamm, Julie Foudy and Joy Fawcett in December 2004.

She enrolled in UH at the beginning of the semester and has participated in spring drills with the Cougars. She will be a junior this fall with two seasons of eligibility remaining. She played in 20 matches with the Sun Devils. She was limited to seven matches during her freshman season due to injury.
