FIFA President Sepp Blatter is often labeled the "Teflon boss" for his ability to avoid questions and accusations about bribery and corruption involving soccer's world governing body. His charmed professional life seems to extend to his personal life too -- at the weekend he escaped unhurt from a high-speed car collision.

According to a report in the German daily tabloid Bild, Blatter lost control of his "brand new" $186,000 Mercedes attempting a risky overtaking maneuver while driving to his home in the Swiss canton of Wallis. He then collided with a Golf coming from the opposite direction. The Golf driver suffered "light injuries."

A police spokesperson for the canton of Bern, where the accident happened, said the crash was still being investigated, and that it was too early to comment on possible criminal proceedings. A FIFA spokesman said that Blatter is "well and working," but other than admitting the accident took place would offer no comment.
