It's arguable whether or not Real Salt Lake's "perfect ten" record (10-10-10) merits a place in the postseason, but after four barren years Coach Jason Kreis believes unequivocally that that his side deserves to be there, and welcomes the little bit of luck that took them into the playoffs.

"There's been a lot of points out there this season that we felt we deserved and we didn't get," Kreis said after Saturday's 1-1 tie with Colorado Rapids, the necessary point having been clinched by Yura Movsisyan in the game's final minute. "For me, this was the first time, perhaps, the ball bounced our way."

Reporter Michael Lewis calls the Salt Lake qualification "a milestone achievement for a franchise once regarded as the embarrassment of the league." Midfielder Kyle Beckerman was also euphoric. "It was awesome," he said. "We just kept pushing. We kept believing." Salt Lake plays Chivas USA in the Western Conference semifinal, beginning Saturday.
