[2008 WOMEN'S WORLD PLAYER]U.S. gold-medalistsShannon Boxx andHope Solo are among the 10 players nominated for the 2008 Women's Player of the Year award.

Previous winners Birgit Prinz (2003-05) and Marta (2005-07) are among the nominees.

The finalists for the men's and women's awards will be announced in early December and the winners will be revealed at the 18th FIFA World Player Gala at the Zurich Opera House on Jan. 12, 2009.
