Brazil's Internacional lifts Copa Sudamericana

[SOUTH AMERICA] Internacional became the first Brazilian team in to win the Copa Sudamericana since the tournament's inception in 2002. A 1-1 second-leg tie with Estudiantes earned it a 2-1 final win on aggregate.

Playing at home but struggling most of the game against the Argentine club, Internacional, which won the first leg, 1-0, conceded a second-half goal by Agustin Alayes. With the aggregate score tied, 1-1, Nilmar scored the decider in 25 minutes into overtime.

Internacional benefited by the departure of Estudiantes captain Juan Sebastian Veron, who left the game in overtime because of an injury.

Estudiantes' Rodrigo Brana and Boselli were red-carded in the last three minutes of overtime.
