"I don't think there will ever be a 39th game and I don't believe there should be," Ferguson told reporters Tuesday after his team's arrival in Japan for the Club World Cup. "Certainly I'm not in favor of it. You look at our domestic program allied to our cup competitions -- it's impossible."
The plan was universally reviled when first aired by Premier League Chief Executive Richard Scudamore in February, but received cautious backing from Asian soccer chief Mohamed Bin Hammam last week after he met with Scudamore and the two announced a co-operation deal to help promote soccer in Asia.
