[U.S. UNDER-18 NATIONAL TEAM] The U.S. under-18 men's national team won its first tournament under new coach Mike Matkovich when it won the Australian Youth Olympic Festival on Monday with a 5-0 win over Australia in Sydney. That followed a 14-0 win over China in which Adam Jahn scored five goals -- four in a span of six minutes.

Needing a victory to take the gold, the Americans got two goals from Will Bates and a goal from Miles Byass in the first half against Australia. Jose Altamirano and Hasani Sinclair scored the other goals.

Altimarino opened the scoring against China with two goals in the 9th minute. China fielded a team whose average age was 15.

Chile, which tied the USA, 1-1, in their opening game, took the silver medal with a 11-0 win over China on Monday.
