Short-handed Panama clinches Gold Cup berth

[DIGICEL UNCAF CUP] Panama beat Guatemala, 1-0, on a goal by Alberto Zapata in the 31st minute and advanced to the semifinals of the Digicel Uncaf Cup, where it will face host Honduras Friday in the semifinals.

The Canaleros, who played the second half with 10 men after the expulsion of Victor Herrera, clinched a berth in this summer's Gold Cup.

Costa Rica, the Group B winner, and El Salvador meet in the other semifinals.

In Thursday's fifth-place game, Guatemala faces Nicaragua. The winner will claim Central America's fifth berth in the Gold Cup.
