Spanish boss Rafael Benitez remains unsigned as coach of Liverpool beyond the 2009-10 English Premiership season, putting off the inking of two different contract extensions in order to secure a deal that includes contract commitments for his 10-person-plus technical staff, according to Sid Lowe.

"Anyone that has just a year left on his contract does not have anything at all and I have only got a year and a half left," said Benitez, who reportedly also wants greater control of the club, including increased input in all transfer matters.

Benitez went as far as to allude that if a deal had not been worked out by the summer, his position would become unsustainable, fueling reports that he might return to Real Madrid, where he coached youth teams early in his career.
