At least for now, it appears Sven Goran Eriksson is still the best man for the job in Mexico, receiving a strong endorsement Thursday in comments made by Mexican Futbol Federation (FMF) President Justin Compean, who reminded restless fans and media alike that they "hired Sven so we could go to the World Cup together." Key word: together.

Addressing the deafening roar of disapproval from El Tri's followers after the 2-0 loss to the rival United States in their World Cup Qualifying opener on Feb. 11, Compean tried to buy Eriksson some breathing room in stating that "Sven cannot have his head in a guillotine. He must work with confidence and we are giving it to him."

Despite Mexico's current 0-3-1 winless streak in World Cup Qualifying games, Compean made it clear that the FMF is "not threatening him", but rather "giving him our full support and ... anything he needs." Read the original story...
